The math showing that UV is a great source of Vitamin D is indisputable! Dr. Holick, author of The UV Advantage, performed new research in which 15 people tanned in tanning equipment 3 times per week. After one week of tanning, their blood levels of Vitamin D were 50 percent higher. After 3 weeks oft anning, their blood levels of Vitamin D were 150 percent higher.

Could supplements have the same result? Non-prescription supplements can not. Three tanning sessions per weeks will give you the equivalent of 30,000 to 75,000 IU of Vitamin D, depending on your skin type and other factors. These levels can not possibly be reached through supplements. Even salmon straight out of the stream only provides 1,000 IU of Vitamin D.
